AUTUMN MIND,
BODY & SPIRIT FAYRE MARTLESHAM
COMMUNITY HALL 9th
OCTOBER 2010 Having been plagued by bad weather for three of the last four
Summer Fêtes, we decided this year to break with tradition and go for an indoor
Mind, Body and Spirit Fayre. While the Church is a lovely old building with a
fantastic atmosphere, it doesn’t lend itself to large indoor events, so we
looked elsewhere for a suitable venue. We eventually decided on the Community
Hall at Martlesham which is a modern building, has all the space we need,
ample free parking, and is near enough
to the main roads to make it very accessible. The day dawned bright and sunny as the committee and helpers
met from 7.30 onwards to set up ready for the stallholders, who in turn began
to arrive from about 8.30. The seven mediums took their places, and by the
time the doors opened at 10.00am, all was ready! There were a few butterflies amongst the main organisers as
this was the first time we had tried an event such as this, but we needn’t
have worried. There was a steady stream of visitors throughout the day, and
by the time we closed, over 130 people had come through the doors. The
stallholders reported a good interest in their products and therapies, and enjoyed
their day. The mediums were kept busy as well, all 56 slots were taken, and
towards the end, we were having disappoint some latecomers. (Watch our
website for future reading days and events!) The success of any event such as this depends on support from
many areas, and we would like to give our thanks to the Martlesham Community
Hall committee for allowing us to use the Hall, the Church committee members
and helpers who worked tirelessly to make everything run smoothly, the
stallholders and therapists who gave their time and support, the mediums who
were kept busy the whole day, but perhaps most of all, to all of YOU who took
the time and trouble to visit and support us. Without you – the day would not
